Newborn Gallery

There's not a more exiting time in your life than the arrival of a gorgeous, new baby in your family. I adore working with newborns and always take my queues from them and what they're comfortable with, keeping them the focus of the image.

FAQ

When should I book?

A. I encourage you to make contact as soon as possible! I then put your details in my calendar on your due date and ask that you send me a text as soon as bubs is born so I can schedule/confirm your session time. I like to photograph newborns within 14 days if possible because it's when they're the sleepiest and more easy to pose in those cute, curled up poses. Places fill up very quickly so it's best to make a booking as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

Can our other children and us be in some photos too?

A. Yes, with a full session I encourage you to do a few family and sibling photos as well as the baby, even if you don't feel all that glamorous due to the lack of sleep that new babies bring! It's completely up to you whether you choose to purchase those images, but it's not often that you get the opportunity to have a professional photo all together so why not take advantage of the moment!

What do we need to organise?

A. I have a good selection of baskets, blankets, wraps, hats, headbands, etc so you don't need to rush out and buy anything. If you have something special you'd like to include, of course feel free to discuss with me and I'll try to incorporate it into your session. A dummy can be really helpful for settling babies during a photo session, even if they don't normally take one. (They won't get attached to it just from using it during their photoshoot), and be prepared to offer milk or a top up feed if baby requires it.

What should we wear?

A. I usually take photos of newborns either wrapped or nude, so I encourage only dressing baby in a onesie that easily unzips in the front to make it easier to undress them if they're asleep. I advise everyone else to wear colours that coordinate well together and avoid bold patterns or logos. Check out Pinterest for clothing inspiration and ideas.

What should I know about our newborn shoot?

A. Sessions are done in my cozy studio at Flinders Park and can take between 2-3 hours for a full session. Babies need time for feeding, burping and settling which adds time to a session and cannot be rushed. If you're breastfeeding, please be aware of what you eat the night before the session. Onions and spicy foods can upset newborns tummies which can affect how well they settle for their shoot. Please contact me to reschedule your shoot if anyone is sick, we can always find another time when everyone feels up to it.

What happens after our photoshoot?

A. Allow up to three weeks to sort, prepare and lightly edit your images for viewing. I'll then contact you to arrange a time to view your proofs and make your selections. Payment for your package is due at your ordering appointment and I also offer HUMM if you prefer to pay in instalments. Once your package is paid for, I’ll then do a final edit of your chosen images, order prints, frames, etc. and will contact you when your package is ready to collect!
